Our presentation emphasized helping English language learners depict a positive biographical story in multiple verb tenses. Are interested in hearing more about our experiences? CATESOL State Conference 2020
During the COVID-19 era, English teachers and English Language Learners (ELLs) have frequently sought factual information to better understand the evolving news. Maps, graphs, and charts present data and detail trends. Interpreting visual information (tables, graphs, etc) helps ELLs understand statistical information and make sense of our world. Describing and understanding infographics is an important skill for academic success, professional development, and active citizenship. This workshop showed how to effectively teach ELLs to summarize, evaluate, and share short commentaries on data.
